The first step of a recurring campaign is practically the same as the first step in creating a normal campaign. Simply enter the campaign properties.
When it comes to the recurrence section: this is where you decide how often your campaign will be sent to your contacts.
For each option: you can choose the day of the week, the date of the month and the time. You can send every day, on a specific day of the week, on a specific day of the month or at specific intervals.
- The first selection is “an email will be sent (every day or every week) at (time).
- The second selection is if you want to choose a specific day of the week at a specific time.
- The third selection is if you want to send a campaign for a specific day of the month at a specific time.
- And finally, you can send an email on a specific day at a specific interval (of weeks) during the year and at a specific time.
Step 2: This step is the same step as a normal campaign, select the list of contacts to be used.
Step 3: This step is also the same as a normal campaign, select the message to send for this recurring campaign.
When choosing your message for a recurring campaign, you might want to choose a message with an RSS feed in it, so your contacts receive some part of your message differently from one recurring campaign to another. RSS feed can be created in the manage content section. Keep in mind, if you wish to modify your message, you’ll have to pause your recurring campaign, otherwise your message will be locked. Make sure you're done with your message before activating your campaign. If you ever want to modify it, simply pause your recurring campaign and then edit your message.
Step 4: This final step is also very similar to the last step of a normal campaign. Click on preview and send test to have access to the final button: Activate campaign. Finally, you can activate it on a scheduled date or activate it immediately. You also have the option of deactivating the campaign on a specific date. Simply, click I approve and then, confirm and activate.
Once you activate a campaign, you can always pause it if you want to edit the recurrence or the actual message. The recurrence will stop and the campaign will go back into edition mode.
Once a campaign starts sending, you will get a statistics report for each recurring campaign. You can find these reports at the same place you find a normal campaign report.
When you go to manage recurring campaigns, you’ll have access to the same action button to access the statistics report, when clicking on it, it will take you to a folder where each recurring campaign will get its own statistics report, so you can view each of them manually.
Just like a normal campaign, you have access to the duplicate option as well as the report generator. You’ll also have the information button in that same actions column where you’ll be able to see the information of each campaign, this way you can see how you created them without having to edit and stop the recurrence.
